Asus’ new ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 quad-band Wi-Fi 6E gaming router coming soon

ASUS is entering the quad-band realm with one of the first quad-band options available to gamers looking to get the most out of their network. The new Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Wi-Fi 6E router will be released later this quarter to meet the endless demand for bandwidth as we surround ourselves with IoT and bandwidth-demanding games, streaming content, and more. .

The new router will compete with options such as Netgear’s currently available quad band mesh solution. Only the ASUS model does not have the advantages of mesh. However, where it lacks mesh support, it does benefit from features designed especially for gamers and other enthusiasts looking for a little more power.

One notable feature is a 10 Gbps port on the back, as well as a 2.5 Gbps WAN port. This is in addition to the four 1 Gbps ports for normal Gigabit devices, switches, or whatever else you decide to plug in. You can also bind two of these 1 Gbps ports together to create 2 Gbps with devices that support them. This allows for high bandwidth between your wired connections and support for future ISP plans as we expand gigabit connectivity beyond the home.

All of these ports can also be used as a WAN port, allowing dual ISP options for obsessive users who simply can’t risk downtime.

The three wireless bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz) combine to deliver up to 16Gbps of wireless throughput between all connected devices (in theory, because we never really see those numbers in the real world with no router).

From killer hardware to solid bandwidth management, this router is looking to be a flagship for ASUS this year and it will arrive later this quarter. MSRP is a bit steep at $ 649, but that’s no surprise with the price of routers these days. It also drops off less than the when-band mesh solution we mentioned earlier. So it will be an option for serious users and not for the average user. However, there is no doubt that demand will be high for this one.
