Make LaB, initiators and creators of the festival boutique experience Lightning in a Bottle (LIB), revealed the schedule for the event’s return in 2022 to Buena Vista Lake in Southern California. The festival will run for five days, from May 25 to 30, and will end on Memorial Day weekend. Encompassing an eclectic and diverse array of talented artists, the music festival is a genre-less musical exploration of creativity and great music.
Since 2006, artists from all over the world have been drawn to LIB to show their music and experience a one-of-a-kind creative stage environment designed for immersion and wonder. LIB 2022 will feature numerous stages, with artists such as British indie-rock phenomena Glass Animals, Haitian-Canadian beatsmith Kaytranada, the prodigal son of American bass music GRIZ, plus crossing heads SG Lewis, Purity Ring and Chet Faker, taking the main Lightning stage. Young British rapper Little Simz will also make her festival debut with Empress Of and many other newcomers.
This upcoming year’s LIB is proving to be one of the biggest of all time, with changes made to some of their well-known musical hideouts and tents. Thunder, known traditionally as the event’s bass enclave, will transform into a tree-lined theater where multiple genres will be presented outdoors with its largest lineup to date, while the Woogie stage – the first LIB’s house and techno haven – expands to a full day of events scheduled for Thursday, May 26th.
Do LaB is also presenting a new scene at LIB called The Junk Yard. The Junk Yard will house the Junk In The Trunk art car; Seen at Burning Man, Junk in the Trunk will serve as a stage backdrop and will occasionally be mobile around the festival. The Junk Yard will replace the Favela Bar as the event host for favorite native California house and techno artists.
Ahead of next year’s event, Do LaB will bring a 150-foot-long immersive sound-responsive video sculpture to Banc of California Stadium in LA during The next dates of the concerts of RÃFÃS DU SOL from 12 to 14 November; the group has been a creative partner of Do LaB, and they are alumni of LIB. The Glitch Mob’s Boreta will be the soundtrack for the immersive sculpting experience, and LA Strangeloop Studios’ news house has created audio-responsive visuals for the sculpture. The sculpture will serve as a preview for the installation presented at the LIB.
All elements of the upcoming LIB festival, new and old, reflect “the decades-long commitment to bringing together avant-garde music across many distinct stages, discussions and educational and cause-driven activities.”
Tickets are now available for LIB 2022. In addition to general admission, LIB will also offer new VIP experiences that include perks such as access to the backstage lounges of the Lightning, Thunder and Woogie stages – all featuring a full bar – and the ability to see headlining performances in the elevated viewing area of ââLightning Stage. For those wishing to camp, LIB also offers a wide variety of camping options for participants via Atlaswyld, a festival within a festival; campers can choose from multiple glamping options and have access to tailor-made yoga and wellness classes, culinary programming, Happy Hour mixers, and other high-end meetups.
