Get to know BTS’ j-hope live band from HOBIPALOOZA


It’s been a long day, your body is about to give out as your legs almost give way under you. But then you hear the kick of the bass drum and the first strum of that electric guitar and suddenly you gain new life.

Your mind and heart go through the exhaustion and you’re back jumping and dancing as your favorite artist takes the stage. As they take center stage, the magic really begins a little further as the band lays the groundwork for what is going to be a big night. And this is the same for I hopehistoric headlining performance at Lollapalooza 2022.

Bringing BTS member HOBIPALOOZA’s vision on fire (literally) is none other than the talented music director and bassist Asaf Rodehassisted by Jonathan Linav, who were joined by Clemons Poindexter IV on the battery, Carrice Whitley on the keys, and Jackson Shepard to guitars.

Together, the band made the hearts of the crowd race as the ‘AFTER’ hitmaker gave the performance of his life. Get to know the members of j-hope’s HOBIPALOOZA group here.

Asaf Rodeh (music director/bass)

Group leader and producer Asaf Rodeh is the main genius behind the magic behind the incredible live arrangements of j-hope’s band ‘HOBIPALOOZA’. The acclaimed musician, who is highly regarded for his musical versatility, works under Directing Music Group as a musical director and has an impressive career that spans almost two decades. Since 2007, Rodeh has also worked with personalities such as Lil Nas X, Zayn, Ariana Grande, Charlie Puth, Little Mix, and more.

Clemons Poindexter IV (drums)

Lively beats and groovy rhythms, Clemons Poindexter IV is an absolute beast on drums, tasked with adding that extra fire to j-hope’s sharp verses and booming vocals. Influenced by people like Vinnie Colaiuta and Calvin Rodgersthe talented musician has been playing drums professionally since 2007 and has worked with artists like Khalid, 24KOr, and Marvin Sapp.

Carrice Whitley (keys)

Carrice Whitley is no stranger to a big stage. Armed with his trusty keyboard, the arranger and musician has played with some of music’s biggest stars, including TLC, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Latto, Keyshia Cole, and more.

Jackson Shepard (guitars)

Shredding an absolute storm on stage is none other than Jackson Shepard. The multi-instrumentalist, who is also a singer-songwriter and producer, complements HOBIPALOOZA’s massive impact with wicked riffs and electric flares. Shepard also leads the Chicago-based music project Human bloom.

Jonathan Linav (arrangement)

Joining Asaf Rodeh in leading the arrangement for HOBIPALOOZA is Jonathan Linav, which is also part of Direction Music Group. Along with Rodeh and the team at Direction Music Group, the producer and multi-instrumentalist brought j-hope’s vision for his festival debut to life and helped create a performance that will go down in history.
