ROCKPORT and BELFAST – Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) will adjust their outpatient laboratory services schedules effective Monday, December 20, 2021.

The PBMC lab will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while the WCGH lab will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Staffing shortages have affected labs across the state, and NorDX, our lab services provider, has stepped up recruiting efforts to address this challenge, the hospitals said in a news release.

“PBMC and WCGH recognize that these changes are impractical and we appreciate your understanding and patience,” the statement read. “We continue to work with NorDx to extend service hours as soon as possible. The changes will not impact inpatient care or the urgent needs of outpatient laboratories. »
