Umphrey’s McGee gave their first concert at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York on Sunday night. Presented as “Rambling On: Mostly True Tales”, the show was capped off with an appropriate cover of The Band’s “Don’t Do It”, which UM last performed on December 31, 2011.

Throughout the night, UM members told stories and answered questions from fans. The first set started with “Suxity”, the original from the band that debuted on New Years Eve 2019. The rest of the completely original first set consisted of staples from the long-standing setlist, “Wife Soup”, “Bridgeless”, “End Of The Road”, “Morning Song”, “Water” and the closest, “JaJunk”.

The second set started off with “Puppet String”, along with other originals in the form of “Women Wine and Song”, “Bad Friday”, “Walletsworth” and “Higgins”. Umphrey’s then selected the first cover of the evening, the instrumental We’re Going to War by Mark Knopfler. The set ended with “Whistle Kids” and “Believe the Lie”. Keyboardist Joel Cummins started the encore with a solo performance of his “Orfeo”. The rest of the group then joined in on “The Weight Around” and the aforementioned “Don’t Do It”.

UM did 843 shows between performances of “Don’t Do It”. Sunday’s performance, with drummer Kris Myers playing Levon Helm’s drums, was UM’s third time playing The Band classic after its first appearance on December 31, 2004.
