ZZ Top singer and bassist Dusty Hill passed away on July 28. Blackberry Smoke and The Allman Betts Band cover “Jesus Just Lef Chicago” as a tribute to Hill during their Spirit Of The South tour stops in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 30 and Huber Heights, Ohio on August 1 according to Setlist.FM.

The Spirit Of The South tour also includes The Wild Feathers and Allman Brothers Band co-founder drummer Jaimoe. Each evening ends with a collaboration between the numbers and a series of covers.

Blackberry Smoke singer Charlie starr did the lead vocals on “Jesus Just Left Chicago”. Starr played the tune on the 1950 Fender Broadcaster guitar that Billy Gibbons used to record the original for ZZ Top’s Very Hombres album.
