A four-piece band from Mullingar hit the local music scene with a cover of Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1977 hit Mull of Kintyre.

Brass Acoustic Sounds, consisting of Ambrose Corvenieo (trumpet), Beatrice Corvenieo (trumpet/vocals), Yohan McCormick (acoustic guitarist/lead vocals) and William Kelleghan (bassist), came together on Saturday March 6 to record their first video for their YouTube channel in the Jam Rooms, Mullingar.

“We covered McCartney’s ‘Mull of Kintyre’ because the lyrics of the song relate to a lot of Irish material – like McCartney, there’s a sense of nostalgia in the music. He sings about a place he loves and wants to go back to,” Beatrice said.

“We like to create new sounds. Pop music, rock ‘n’ roll, blues and jazz, ballads. We started in each other’s living rooms, decided to take it a step further and share what we love with viewers. So far we have had a fabulous response. There’s more to come.”

Keep an eye out for future Brass Acoustic Sounds recordings on YouTube.
